Student Works

These are student works that were done as part of the curriculum at Ex’pression College. The videos below are exercises that taught students how to record, edit, and compose for media while learning how to use Digital Audio Workstations. In addition, the longer movie was a lab group exercise that involved creating a video from preproduction to the finished work

This work was an exercise in creating audio for a 30 second commercial. Nothing says lifesavers like The Candyman as sung by Sammy Davis Jr.
I scored this for a classmate in the visual arts program at Ex’pression College. He was tasked to do a title piece for a fictional TV show.
The purpose of this exercise was to replace all sounds using a DAW. It’s from a horror movie and contains violence. I composed the music as well.

This work is a scoring exercise in ABA’ form. Done in 3 hours and mixed in headphones.
This movie was created by a lab group. We were tasked to do a 5 minute piece, but the group was full of over achievers. Everyone had a hand using in filming, writing, directing, etc. I scored most of the short and wrote the theme song and outro.

While Ex’pression College, I did a number of these types of exercises that have been lost to time or are stuck on a hard drive somewhere. I find that doing exercises such as these not only tests a student’s knowledge in learning to use audio tools, it asks them to be creative. In the same manner, I would not hesitate to use similar exercises to teach students how to use a DAW.
